Dale County Sheriff's Dept. seek identity of suspect(s) in recent burglary

On March 12, 2013 Dale County Deputies responded to a residential burglary on County Road 11 in Ariton. Upon arrival Deputies observed evidence of where the suspect(s) made forcible entry into the home. During the preliminary investigation Deputies  learned that multiple firearms, fishing poles and other hunting equipment were taken during the burglary.

The Sheriff's Office is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible.

MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2013

@ 12:54 am.  Minor(s) in Possession of Alcohol.  US Hwy 231.  Suspect(s) (Briana L. Little), (Jazmyne James) and (Ashley D. Crenshaw) were found to have alcohol in their possession. 

@ 2:24 am.  Menacing.  Jasmine Hills.  Victim (Javai D. March) stated suspect (Derrick S. Bean) obtained a knife during an altercation and attempted to cut him.

@ 10:01 am.  Domestic Violence 3rd, Criminal Mischief.  Briarhill Ct.  Victim (Annie F. Wesley) stated suspect (Alexander J. McLeod) damaged her cell phone beyond operation.

@ 10:23 am.  Domestic Violence 3rd, Harassment.  Troy St.  Victim (Carolyn D. Mahone) stated suspect (James K. Avant) grabbed her by the neck during an argument.

Victim holds suspects at gunpoint, calls police

On 03/09/2013 Dale County Deputies responded to a farm on County Road 9 South of Newton in reference to a theft in progress.  While en route, Deputies were advised that the victim had (3) suspects at gun point awaiting their arrival. Deputies along with  Sheriff Olson arrived and  detained the suspects.  The  victim stated that he  received a call the day before from a neighbor  in regards to a suspicious red pick-up truck in the area. The victim stated that as he was checking his property he observed a red pick-up truck in a wooded area approximately ½ mile off the roadway.  The truck was loaded with scrap metal the suspects were in the process of removing from the victim’s property. All (3) suspects were arrested for Theft of Property 2nd and transported to the Dale County Jail.

Midland City man assaults Newton Police officer

On March 7, Dale County Sheriff's Investigators arrested Royal Eugene Hogan, age 53, of Midland City and charged him with Second Degree Assault.

Hogan was arrested earlier in the day by the Midland City Police Department for Demostic Violence 3rd and was transported to the Dale County jail. While Hogan was being transferred to a holding cell, he assualted a Newton Police officer who was processing another inmate.

The officer recevied minor injuries.  Hogan and the officer have had no prior contacts.

@ 1:54 pm.  Criminal Mischief 3rd/Criminal Trespass 3rd.  Debra Ln.  Victim (Chantel N. Floyd) stated an unknown suspect attempted to enter the rear of her residence by damaging the back door and door jam.

@ 2:49 am.  Domestic Violence 3rd, Criminal Mischief.  N. Court Sq.  Victim (Robert D. Buchanan) stated during an argument suspect (Sheri L. Buchanan) damaged some of his property.

@ 4:08 am.  Domestic Dispute.  Deese Rd.  (Joseph A. Womack) and (Annie Womach) were arguing over personal matters.

@ 9:22 am.  Harassment.  US 231 S.  Victim (Rachel C. Hammerle) stated suspect (Clint Coslett) came into the store cursing her and made a threatening gesture with his hands.

Ozark man arrested on charges of electronic solicitation of a child

On March 5, 2013 the Dothan Police Department Juvenile Investigative Division made a felony arrest following an ongoing investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of the case limited details are being released however police say Robert Sitz was arrested and charged with Electronic Solicitation of a Child.

Robert Lewis Sitz, white male, 66 years of age, Ozark, Alabama was arrested and charges with Electronic Solicitation of a child.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

@ 9:56 am.  Theft of Property 1st.  N US Hwy 231.  Victim (Demetrice L. Hines) stated an unknown suspect removed property without permission.

@ 12:17 pm.  Theft of Property 3rd.  E. Broad St.  Complainant (Brenda L. Adams) stated an unknown suspect pumped fuel and left the premises without paying.

@ 2:22 pm.  Deceased Person.  Woodview Dr.  Complainant (Sharon S. Silver) reported victim (Gregory L. Harness) as unresponsive. 

@ 6:24 pm.  Duty to Give Information/Render Aid.  US Hwy 231.  Complainant (Debora D. Pettaway) stated an unknown suspect struck her vehicle and left the scene. 

@ 10:46 pm.  Theft of Property 3rd.  Walmart.  Complainant (Jason Carter) stated suspect (Connie C. Hamrick) was observed attempting to steal items from the store.
